The law firm had settlements on suits on three cases of more than 1,000,000.00 (one million dollars) during 2011.
- One case involved a Maryland auto accident for a Viriginia resident. Besides the tortfeasor *paying their policy, we were able to obtain a self-insured policy from the employer and an additional amount from the UIM (Uninsured Motorist Carrier). Additionally, the client was entitled to Maryland Worker’s Compensation benefits for lost time and permanency. Among the legal issues involved in the case was what jurisdiction to file suit on a Virginia UIM policy for a Maryland accident location.
